Big news! RISE UP Tempe is merging with the South Phoenix campus for summer! It will be exciting to spend the summer with friends. Woo hoo! Let us know if you’d like any additional info regarding this temporary location change.

Also, RISE UP Mesa is moving to a new location! Our new location will be at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Mesa, AZ on the corner of Gilbert and Broadway. Their facility will provide students with an excellent study space as well as room to further grow the program. We are very excited for this partnership!

RISE UP Tempe Updates!

We’d like to extend a BIG WELCOME to our new student Griselda S.!

In April, we submitted art to the National Art Contest, registered for internships with UCCAN, orientation with JFCS, and ordered caps and gowns for students as students are starting to finish up senior classes!!! We also completed AZM2 testing and did on-campus sight & vision checks.

Partnership with Boys & Girls’ Club of Guadalupe at their exciting community center- we toured their art room, arcade, music studio, and innovation lab by COX. We were also excited to be invited to work with other educational organizations in the valley with Opportunities for Youth.

This month we welcomed UCCAN to our South Phoenix campus to speak with our students and provide information on their internship programs. UCCAN provides local resources related to finances, family, education and the workforce. UCCAN is affiliated with AmeriCorps to help serve the underprivileged youth in Arizona communities. UCCAN also provided our students with a game truck! Students enjoyed playing some of their favorite games after UCCAN’s presentation.

We also had recruiters from the US Army visit our South Phoenix campus and spoke with our students to communicate the career paths and programs available to our students through the US Army.

We have had the great pleasure of meeting with Anne Burke with Catholic Community Services and they are now community partners with Downtown Rise Up Tucson. Anne brings a wealth of community resources as it pertains to migrant services that will allow us access to help more students who need our services. Through her we were able to meet with Emily Macalusowith Lutheran Family Services and reach two potential students who are looking to recover credits.

We have also connected with Mary McGuireof Mentoring Tucson’s Kids and are now partnering to help our students with mentoring services and potentially receive referral for more students who we can serve. We have also had the pleasure of being invited to the Mentoring Breakfast during the first week of May.
